*Narasimha Jayanthi special*
đšđšđšđšđšđšđšđšđšđšđšđšđšđš
The young man (some say he was from Chozha desam , TN) had got the diksha of Sri Narasimha mantra... He found a spot under a tree in that forest and began his sadhana...
Days became weeks but the lion - faced Lord didn't appear.
đĻđĻđĻđĻđĻđĻđĻđĻđĻđĻđĻđĻđĻđĻ
The hunter belonged to that forest and he wondered what that Brahmana was doing sitting under the tree...
To the hunter, the young sadhaka was a honored guest.
The man of the jungle kindly enquired what the other man needed from that forest.
The young man was not in a mood to be disturbed by anyone, so he gave an evasive reply that he was looking for a a lion - man.
"Sounds like a strange animal indeed! I know this forest very well but have never come across such an animal!" the hunter said. đđĻ
The hunter however assured his "guest" that he would find that tricky animal and hand it over to him. đ
He went one step further and made a promise. A promise that shook up all the lokas. đđŧđđŧ
"If I don't catch that animal for you before sunset, I will take my own life!"
Seems extreme to us, but the hunter was just practicing the Vedik way of life.
"Atiti Devo Bhava!"
The hunter then searched for that animal everywhere but he could not find it.
The time of Sunset came closer and *the hunter was ready to die to keep his promise.*
He started to hang himself with a heavy creeper and... lo behold!
That strange animal stood next to him like a polite child. đđŧ
"Got you finally !" exclaimed the hunter.
"No animal has harassed me so much!" he said and tied up the naughty "animal" with the creeper.
Eons ago, a mother had tied him up the same way. The lion smiled at that memory. đđŧ
" Aha! You can smile too! You are indeed a very strange animal! Come with me now and I will take you to that poor brahmana who hasn't eaten in days!"
The hunter dragged the willing animal to where the young man was, but all the young man could see was the creeper and not the one that got tied up in it !
He had done enough sadhana to understand that the hunter had indeed caught the one that cannot be easily caught or held by yogis...
Tears rolled down his face when he realised he could not see the man - lion.
A divine voice boomed from the sky.
*"This hunter looked for me with ekakra chinta. /singular focus.*
*He was willing to die for his promise.*
*I make myself available to such a bhaktha. You are able to hear me thanks to his satsangha!*
O Sanandana! Don't worry. Your mantra japa will be rewarded when you need me the most "
đšđšđšđšđšđšđšđšđšđšđšđšđšđšđš
Sri Sanandana then became one of Sri Adi Shankaracharya's four principal disciples and his sanyasa naama was Sri Padma Padacharya.đđŧđđŧ
He did achieve Sakshatkaara of Sri Narasimha Mantra. đđŧđđŧ
He was the first Acharya of Sri Sringeri Sankara āŽŽāŽ¤āŽŽ். (Karnataka)
