Mohana Narasimha and Chenchu Lakshmi Thayar

I made the above sketch using
Color pencils and felt pens. Took a few hours to complete. Painting may have taken days and I couldn't wait to complete the picture, so there.

 Mohana Narasimha and Chenchu Lakshmi Thayar

After the vatham of Hiranyakashipu, Sri Narasimha, in his terrible ugra rupa, roamed around the forests in Nallamalla region, AP.
Ma Sri Lakshmi took the form of a vanvasi girl belonging to the Chenchu tribe in AP and pacified his anger. 
He took a Shanta swarupa and has been gracing his devotees in the form of Mohana Narasimha ever since. 

I took the liberty to imagine the following conversation between the divine couple. 


" Devi, you seem to be in deep thought. Is it about our children again?"

"  Swami, you already know they are all I think about all the time. I  know you too think of our children on Earth all the time!"

" Devi, is there anything I can hide from you? You reside in my heart. Like this flower mala that goes around us both, our thoughts are always connected. What do you want me to do for our children now? I have given them umpteen chances to reform themselves. "

"Swami, one more chance will help them immensely".

"Devi, give me one good reason why I should be kind to them, yet again! "

" Swami, please don't be angry with them. If we push them away, no one can help them. If we help them now, they would never err again! That's two good reasons".

He laughs softly.

"Devi, mothers always win. Ok, I will not pardon their many crimes and grant them free boons, ..."

" Swami, I won't ask you to do that either. Please put in their hearts a seed of interest in your nama smarana! That's all I want for our children".

"Devi, that's very clever! You know very well, in this Kali yuga, namasmarana can completely write off papam and earn immeasurable punyam for those who practice it !"

"Swami, all that happens, happens as per your chitta. I had nothing to do with this idea!" 

May the divine couple who are always devising ways and means to deliver us, their errant children out of our self- created misery reside in our hearts ! 
May we all be benefitted by namasmarana!

Prakriti and Eternal Balance

Modern women and men are bombarded every day with subtle / unsubtle messages about why women are special and why they need to treated in a special way. It’s true that women are indeed special but not for the reasons the liberals of this world list out. “You can do anything a man can do!” is the constant mantra that’s being thrown at women all the time. Let’s face it.  This isn’t true .  Men and women have different skillsets for the reason that they are meant to complement each other. Any person with real leadership skills can tell you that great teams are built with people having diverse skillsets. Efficient, nurturing preschool teachers are mostly women. They may be grossly under paid, but are we going to demean their great service to humanity? Hard working workers of emergency/rescue services/city cleaning services are mostly men. Their service to humanity goes unsung. Where would our modern homes be without the work skills of ordinary plumbers? Ex
